Superyacht Career Training CoursesOverviewThese courses are specifically designed to provide candidates with the skills necessary to safely and efficiently crew on board a power or sail yacht anywhere in the world. The content of each course covers 100% of the IYT training syllabus in order to meet IYT's strict guidelines for training course delivery and to gain MCA recognition. Each course has a theory component and a practical component. Candidates for Masters of Yachts must also attend an examination by an IYT appointed Examiner who is not associated with Superyacht Career Training in any way. These are full time Master Mariners who have spent a lifetime in charge of large commercial vessels. How the Training is Delivered The theory components of Superyacht Career Training courses are usually delivered in a shore based classroom facility. The location of these facilities are selected to provide the most convenient access and minimum travelling time for the students attending. Occasionally theory components of the courses are conducted on board one of our training vessels if the numbers attending the class are 5 or less. Practical components of the courses are conducted on a training vessel or at a facility specifically designed and equipped for that element of the training. Practical course components delivered on board one of our training vessels frequently involve living on board the vessel during a training voyage along the east Australian coast. These voyages include a mix of overnight sailing as well as overnight stays in the comfort of a beautiful and sheltered anchorage. A typical mile building voyage would involve a return trip from Mooloolaba to The Whitsundays or a return trip to Sydney from Mooloolaba. Shorter voyages of 5 to 10 days would involve a return trip to the Gold Coast from Mooloolaba or a return trip to Hervey Bay or the Kepple Islands. Selecting a CourseThe best place to start is to look through the web page titled Careers. There you will find details of the different careers you can follow and what courses you need to complete in order to be considered for crew placement on a Superyacht. To obtain a detailed description of individual courses please make a selection from the menu buttons on the left hand side of this screen.
